Need some advice guys... buying my huband a home gym?!?

I'm looking at home gyms to buy for my husband for xmas. I know he wants to work out his upper body. I found this one at Target, but they have one with 100 lbs and one with 150 lbs, but with less features. I was wondering which one looked better. How much weight do guys usually lift with these? My husband is about 165-170 lbs and he's pretty strong. Thanks for the advice, please look at the links and let me know what you think!

truthfully, 150 lbs is not a ton of weight if he is trying to build upper body mass. if your husband is looking to build resistance and just get a good workout then 150 lbs should be enough.

personally i'm at 183lbs and occasionally i'll use machine weights before free weights, and i'll do about 200 lbs on the chest press, as warm up.

the 100 lbs just isn't enough resistance for a strong 170 lb man, so imo its a waste of money esp. since they cost the same.

why not buy him a gym membership close to your house? its a better investment, a bit more pricey (depending on the gym)... planet fitness chain only costs about 50 on signup and 10 per month. a gym provides many more options.Need some advice guys... buying my huband a home gym?!?
he will outgrow both of those system very quickly. Free weights such as barbell or dumbbell are a much better option.

You have many other options.

The cheapest option is bodylastics. Its costs about $100 and offers up to 254 lbs of resistance

The other options are ironmaster dumbbells or powerblocks. They are upgradeable so if you husband gets stronger, you can buy more weight.

EDIT:

Dumbbell won't irritate his hernia. As long as he uses proper form, he has no need to worry. If dumbbells worry you, try bodylastics. Safer than dumbbells but much better than those target home gym systems
